SafeScience.nl was developed by Schuttelaar & Partners on behalf of the Universities of the Netherlands (UNL). SafeScience is an initiative of UNL in cooperation with Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and Netherlands Scientific Research Institutes Foundation (NWO-I).

 

 

 

1 PERSONAL DATA PROCESSED

 

SafeScience.nl may process personal data about you because you use the services of the telephone emergency room, and/or because you provide it yourself when filling in the web form for making an incident on the website. Safescience.nl/wetenschapveilig.nl will process the following personal data when making a report via the web form:

 

- Your first and last name

 

- Your phone number

 

- Your work email address

 

- Type of incident

 

- Your employer

 

 

 

Your IP address is not recorded. Cookies are not used either.

 

SafeScience also refers to a 24/7 reachable telephone emergency room (of International Security Partners B.V.) for urgent or emergency questions. Here - if necessary - triage takes place and reporters are put in touch with their own institution for appropriate help as soon as possible.  If institutions have their own 24/7 hotline, ISP B.V. will refer to it as soon as possible.

3 WHY SAFESCIENCE.NL NEEDS DATA

 

SafeScience collects and processes personal data on a limited scale from reports completed via the web form. This allows us to make sure you get appropriate help from your employer as soon as possible. We handle your data with integrity, with respect for everyone's privacy and with the utmost care.

 

 

 

SafeScience.nl/WetenschapVeilig.nl processes your personal data in order to contact you by telephone if you so request, and/or to contact you in writing (by e-mail and/or by post) if you unexpectedly cannot be reached by telephone.

 

 

 

4 HOW LONG DATA IS KEPT

 

Personal data of reports made through the web form will be deleted immediately once the institution has received the report. WetenschapVeilig.nl/SafeScience.com does collect the numbers of reports and types of incident per institution (reporters tick one or more type(s) of incident in report form; threats, hate reactions, intimidation or other/other). No further personal data are collected or stored by WetenschapVeilig.nl or Schuttelaar & Partners.

 

After calling ISP BV's reporting number, the report will be forwarded to the institution to which the reporter is affiliated after being assessed for degree of urgency. ISP BV keeps the notifications for a maximum of eighteen months (and until 31 June of the following calendar year at the latest) for the purpose of an annual report of the number of notifications to the institutions for the purpose of the management report of the supplier and the institutions and for the purpose of after-care and settlement of notifications by the institutions. When the service is terminated, the data will still be retained for up to six months in connection with aftercare and reporting.

 

 

 

5 SHARING WITH OTHERS

 

SafeScience.nl/WetenschapVeilig.nl will provide your personal data to your selected employer for following up reports. Once the report is received by the employer, the personal data will be deleted. No further personal data are collected or stored by SafeScience.nl/WetenschapVeilig.nl or Schuttelaar & Partners.

 

 

 

6 WEBSITE USER STATISTICS

 

For monitoring website usage, WetenschapVeilig collects anonymous data via Matamo, see www.matamo.org By analysing the collected data, the website can be improved so that the visitor can find sought-after information as easily as possible. In addition, the web statistics allow SafeScience to further optimise its services. The collected data will not be used for any other purpose or made available to third parties.

 

 

 

7 DATA INSPECTION, MODIFICATION OR DELETION

 

You have the right to inspect, correct or delete your personal data. You can send a request for inspection, correction or deletion to your selected employer, as they will receive your notification. For questions to a Data Protection Officer (FG), please refer to your institution. These oversee the application of and compliance with privacy laws internally.  The FG can be reached via your university or research institute's website.

 

 

 

8 SECURITY

 

SafeScience.nl/WetenschapVeilig.nl takes the protection of your data seriously and takes appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorised access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorised modification. Among other things, the website of uses a reliable SSL Certificate to ensure that your personal data does not fall into the wrong hands. Reports from the web form are sent securely to the employer.
